Experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician – Waikato  

Waikato Based Positions:

  • Long term contract
  • Minimum of 30 hours per week
  • $28 – $30 per hour depending on experience

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team on a long term contract with work based in Waikato with project work in; Gisborne, Wellington, Hawkes Bay, Auckland, Wairarapa, Palmerston North.

We will assist with travel and accommodation costs while you working on these temporary assignments.

Principal Objectives:

  • To carry out work following Health & Safety practices within the workshop
  • Follow the directions of the Workshop Manager/Assembly Leading Hand to achieve target outcomes
  • Undertake all aspects of assembly work given to you
  • To report variations to build specifications and updates
  • To ensure work produced is of the highest quality in line with company expectations
  • To accurately record, where required, times and materials consumed in the fabrication of product
  • To engage is such internal and external training as is required

Key Requirements

Candidates must have at least three years of experience or equivalent trade qualification

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • preparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work under the direction of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists
  • assisting Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists in the design of mechanical equipment and plant
  • selecting tools and equipment
  • assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systems
  • estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements
  • performing and directing field and laboratory tests
  • collecting and analysing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing diagrams
  • organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant
  • ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions
